This is a collection of random ideas and thoughts, which I will probably post when I'm bored or procrastinating.

Serendipity

If you were truly to leave your decisions up to fate/chance, you could never ever be certain of what you were 'supposed' to be doing.

Those 2 crazy kids on Serendipity........they were looking for so many signs. But the signs were all confusing.........one the one hand: they went to buy the same pair of gloves, met up again picking up his scarf and both chose the 23rd floor. On the other hand, the first piece of paper she wrote her name and number on blew away and a kid dressed as the devil got into his lift and prevented him from getting to number 23. So what were they supposed to do???? (after this i turned it off - I'm glad that I can get guidance from someone who isn't so "yes. Wait. No, i mean no. I mean yes....um....can we try again?")

I know, it's a nice romantic movie for all you romantic movie fans. And I'm not opposed to romantic movies........but this one.....well, it just didn't interest me. Sorry guys :-(

God's Song

That was a song by Randy Newman that was played in one of my music lectures. Basically it made out that humankind's suffering is just some sort of cruel joke to God. Apparently the songwriter was trying to comment on blind faith - but personally I don't think he did it that well.

It is just too easy to be cynical. And it's easy to blame God for our distress and pain - I guess cos He's the most obvious target. Or if we don't directly blame Him, then we quietly mutter, "He musn't really be there...if He was, then He sure wouldn't let this happen to me!"

Well, in response to "God's Song", I would like to make a statement (or seventeen).

...For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, so that whoever believes in Him will not die but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him...

...Surely He took up our infirmities
and carried our sorrows...
But He was pierced for our transgressions,
He was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him,
and by His wounds we are healed.

Sorry to all who feel that I am pressing this issue too much - I'm not trying to be offensive. I just feel that if people are allowed to pay God out (intentionally or not), then I should be allowed to defend Him! On the other hand, I guess God doesn't need me to defend Him.......so go find out about Him for yourself, don't get a second-hand opinion.
