Random stuff

This is a collection of random ideas and thoughts, which I will probably post when I'm bored or procrastinating.

After the previous post, I think I'm going a little nuts.

I'm not really serious about putting a Milky Way in the offering bag (although I'm sure it would be a nice surprise for the people counting out the offering!)

Of course he literally made use of them! But if you're going to put a bull (or milk from a cow) in the offering bag, remember what Jesus said:

"Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you,"
"leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift." - Matthew 5:23-24

"For I desire mercy and not sacrifice, And the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings." - Hosea 6:6 (Matthew 9:13; 12:7)

Then again, maybe God doesn't want a milky way.

"Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faith. These you ought to have done, without leaving the others undone." - Matthew 23:23 (Luke 11:42)

And if you read it in context (I dare you):

"Therefore he who swears by the altar, swears by it and by all things on it." - Matthew 23:20

Maybe God was releasing you from your promise and you would have caught that bus otherwise.

"Again you have heard that it was said to those of old, 'You shall not swear falsely, but shall perform your oaths to the Lord.'
    "But I say to you, do not swear at all: neither by heaven, for it is God's throne;
"nor by the earth, for it is His footstool; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King.
"Nor shall you swear by your head, because you cannot make one hair white or black.
"But let your 'Yes' be 'Yes,' and your 'No,' 'No.' For whatever is more than these is from the evil one." Matthew 5:33-37

All those verses have a reference to Matthew. Mat's cool! :P

Well, I can offer this Milky Way by
    a) putting it in the offering bag
    b) giving it to someone else
    c) eating it myself ;-)

So maybe I'll just 'pay it forward' so to speak, and bless God by blessing someone randomly. :-)

Mmm, by paying it forward, theoretically in 10 years you will receive 48,614 milky ways back!

Mmm... 48,614 milky ways... so much nougat...
