False Hope, cause this is where your faith comes from. False Fear just means that you don't have wisdom yet and are probably fearing the devil rather then Jesus who can put you into hell... Just a quick thought though.

False Hope. When you hope for something that will never come about, you can miss something that's just as good. Hope is often too specific for its own good - as is the case with perfectionists, when things are not exactly as they wish it sparks fly. False Hope can only be combatted through deep trust - trust that God has control of every situation, trust that God's not short-changing you, trust that what actually happened isn't that bad anyway.

Like Jess, I think it can be argued either way. Actually, I think that from a theological point of view, ultimately false hope is worse. Like, if I'm putting my hope in all the good stuff I do to get to heaven, then that false hope is going to have extremely damaging consequences!!

But like Jess said, false fears can chew up a lot of your time and your energy. Sometimes I think about the time and emotional energy that I've wasted on false fears, and it is really sad.

And the solution to false fear? Well, part of it...like Luke's solution to false hope....is trust.

But I think I'll write a whole new post on this :-)

I think it largely depends on what perspective you want to attack it from.

Here and now, false fear is worse, false hope just makes you feel good, or inspires you to do stuff, false fear prevents you from doing stuff.

Hindsight when their falsities are revealed, false hope is worse as you have probably actively awaited the fulfilment of your hope, whereas false fear you just passively didn't do stuff.

That's my 2 cents worth, which unfortunately gets rounded down to zero, so I guess that was my worthless opinion.
